GRAHAM UK Awarded £45 Million Student Accommodation Construction Contract

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 12, UK construction contractor GRAHAM announced that it had been awarded a student accommodation construction contract by Gamuda Land UK, valued at approximately £45 million. The project is located at 14 Marshgate Lane in Stratford and is planned to comprise 321 student accommodation beds, along with 294 square meters of commercial space and public facilities. The project has passed the UK Building Safety Regulator's Gateway 2 approval and is expected to be delivered for use in the 2028/29 academic year.

The student accommodation adopts a layout combining clustered shared units and independent studios. Public facilities include shared kitchens, dining areas, social spaces, a gym, and a games room. The ground floor is planned to include artist studios and creative office space. The building's exterior will feature landscaped green areas, and an elevated public activity corridor extending along the site will be built to connect different public activity areas.

GRAHAM's scope of work also includes the construction of new supporting roads on the site, as well as the improvement of pedestrian and bicycle routes on the north side of the project. The construction site is located between Stratford High Street and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, approximately 100 meters from Pudding Mill Lane light rail station. Henley Halebrown is involved in the architectural design, and the project's landscape and rendering design materials also involve Darc Studio.

Gamuda Land acquired the project site in October 2025 and plans to develop it into its first fully wholly-owned and held purpose-built student accommodation in the UK. In October 2026, the project obtained Gateway 2 approval after approximately 25 weeks of building safety regulatory review, allowing it to proceed to the construction phase. Piling work is scheduled to begin on October 12, with GRAHAM responsible for the main construction.
