Eurofiber Launches Data Center Fiber Interconnection Services in Six German Cities
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 13, Netherlands-based fiber network operator Eurofiber announced at the Capacity Europe 2026 conference the launch of fiber interconnection services for data centers in six major German cities, covering Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, and Stuttgart. The new service uses wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology to provide high-capacity fiber connections between data centers within and across cities, primarily leveraging the existing infrastructure of NGN Fiber Network, in which Eurofiber holds a stake.

Under this business arrangement, Eurofiber will provide WDM connections between data centers in the six cities via NGN Fiber Network's fiber infrastructure, covering intra-city data center interconnection and cross-city data transmission. The service is offered to customers under the Eurofiber brand, including enterprises, cloud service providers, and international network operators. The service provides high-bandwidth, low-latency connections and allows customers to scale connection capacity according to their data transmission needs.
The newly launched connectivity service targets multi-site data center applications, involving cloud computing, artificial intelligence workloads, data replication, backup, and cross-site business continuity. Arian de Korte, Director of International Projects at Eurofiber, said that enterprises and cloud service providers in Germany are increasingly using regional data centers and need to establish data connections between different facilities to deploy applications and data resources closer to operational sites and users.
Eurofiber currently operates open-access fiber networks in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and Luxembourg. The German market business is provided uniformly by Eurofiber, with NGN Fiber Network serving as the underlying network infrastructure provider. Andrea Kraus, Chief Commercial Officer of the company, confirmed at the launch event that the new service supports customers in scaling transmission capacity, migrating data, and deploying cloud computing and artificial intelligence applications across multiple data centers.
