en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 14, U.S. specialty chemicals manufacturer Ethox Chemicals announced that construction of its new chemical plant in Pasadena, Texas, has been completed. The project was implemented as a greenfield development, with a focus on configuring ethoxylation and propoxylation production facilities to expand manufacturing capacity for surfactants and related specialty chemicals, forming a two-site production layout together with the company's existing plant in Greenville, South Carolina.

The project is located on Underwood Road in Pasadena, with approximately 17 acres of construction land, acquired by Ethox from a Kao Corporation affiliate. The plant entered the construction phase in early 2024, with the new facilities designed to meet specialty chemicals production and supporting operational needs. Compared with the existing production facilities in Greenville, the new plant features independently built process units and utility systems, with a focus on expanding the company's existing alkoxylation production capacity.

According to Texas permitting and registration records, the supporting construction projects at the Ethox site include a warehouse, a maintenance workshop, a laboratory and office building, and a motor control center building, with a total building area of approximately 2,734 square meters. This portion of the project uses four prefabricated metal building structures, with site work included in the same construction scope, and a registered estimated construction cost of approximately USD 7.56 million.

The new plant belongs to the chemical manufacturing business of Ethox's parent company, Syntha Group. The existing plant operated by Ethox in Greenville primarily carries out ethoxylation, propoxylation, esterification, and other specialty chemicals processing. The new Pasadena plant will further increase ethoxylation and propoxylation manufacturing capacity to serve the company's existing specialty surfactant product business.
