Panattoni Completes Large Transformer Factory in Poland
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 3, Polish real estate developer Panattoni completed the construction of ZREW Transformatory's large transformer factory in Łódź and held an inauguration ceremony. The project represents an investment of PLN 115 million (approximately RMB 220 million), with a floor area of about 20,000 square meters. The new plant is dedicated to the production and testing of large power transformers, equipped with 16 overhead cranes with a total lifting capacity of 360 tonnes, as well as a high-voltage test laboratory and dedicated drying chambers, capable of handling transformers weighing over 200 tonnes. Following the plant's commissioning, ZREW plans to double its production capacity and create approximately 200 new jobs.

The project was custom-built by Panattoni BTS in accordance with ZREW's production processes and equipment requirements. The facility includes not only the production workshop but also supporting office and employee facilities. Given the characteristics of large transformers—heavy weight, large dimensions and complex assembly procedures—the building structure and floor load-bearing capacity were designed to meet the requirements of heavy equipment production. The factory reaches a maximum height of approximately 20 meters, the designed floor load-bearing capacity reaches 210 tonnes, and the building structure load-bearing requirement reaches up to 1,600 tonnes.
Heavy equipment handling is one of the key aspects of the facility design. Sixteen overhead cranes with a total lifting capacity of 360 tonnes are installed in the production area, with some individual units capable of lifting up to 100 tonnes. A dedicated gantry crane is installed outside the building to handle transformers weighing over 200 tonnes; internally, an air-cushion transport system is used to reduce floor friction and handling difficulty when moving large equipment and components in the assembly area.
The factory is equipped with a high-voltage test laboratory featuring an electromagnetic shielding system for testing the electrical performance of transformers, as well as dedicated drying chambers for processing transformer components. The new plant is capable of producing and testing large power transformers weighing over 200 tonnes, further expanding the company's capabilities in manufacturing high-specification power equipment.
The project was implemented in accordance with sustainable development standards, with plans to apply for BREEAM Excellent certification. The investment project also received public support from the Łódź Special Economic Zone. Real estate consultancy JLL participated in the preliminary work, including site selection, market research and commercial negotiations.
