en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 6, public disclosure was made of the photovoltaic supporting project for the Jaraíz de la Vera wastewater treatment plant in the province of Cáceres, Spain. The project involves an investment of EUR 162,600 (including VAT) for the construction of a 62.70 kWp photovoltaic self-consumption system, with the installation of 114 monocrystalline silicon modules covering an area of 574.78 square meters. The project is implemented by the Spanish agricultural transformation company TRAGSA. The photovoltaic system is connected to the internal power distribution facilities of the wastewater treatment plant to supply electricity to the plant's wastewater treatment equipment.

The photovoltaic system operates in a mode that does not feed surplus electricity into the public grid. The modules are installed on precast concrete supports, oriented south, and the direct current is converted to alternating current through inverters before being connected to the plant's power supply system. The project does not include battery energy storage, and the generated electricity is preferentially consumed by internal loads of the wastewater treatment plant. According to design calculations, the system's annual power generation is approximately 100,500 kWh, of which about 76,300 kWh can be used by the plant itself, giving a self-consumption ratio of 75.89% and an energy self-sufficiency rate of 38.33%.

The Jaraíz de la Vera wastewater treatment plant serves the urban area and the El Pósito municipal industrial park, with a design treatment capacity of 1,735 to 2,400 cubic meters per day. The treatment system includes pretreatment, biological treatment, secondary sedimentation tanks, and sludge treatment. The biological treatment facilities are configured with two treatment lines, and the total effective volume of the biological reaction tanks is 3,011 cubic meters, equipped with 3 blowers in a 2-duty/1-standby configuration.

The plant's wastewater collection and conveyance facilities also include DN400 to DN500 sewage pipes, a lifting pump station, and two DN125 pressure conveyance pipelines. The photovoltaic system is connected to the existing electrical facilities of the plant, forming an energy supporting relationship with the wastewater treatment, sludge treatment, and conveyance equipment. Project calculations show that in the first year of operation, the photovoltaic system is expected to save approximately EUR 8,257 in electricity costs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 19.83 tons per year.
