Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 12, Local Canadian companies have purchased five grain silos from Bunge Global SA as part of the company’s commitments under its merger with Viterra, which was completed in July 2025. The divestments were required by the Canadian government as part of the conditions for granting antitrust approval for the merger. Bunge announced the transactions in a statement released on November 7.

According to the announcement, Direct Grain Ltd. acquired the grain silo located in Dixon, Saskatchewan; Linear Grain Inc. purchased the facility in Fannystelle, Manitoba; and BP & Sons Grain and Storage Inc. took ownership of three silos situated in Beausejour, Tucker, and Coulter, Manitoba. The financial details of the transactions were not disclosed. These sales fulfill part of Bunge’s commitment to ensure continued competition in the Canadian grain storage and trading sector following its merger with Viterra.

In addition to these divestments, Bunge also reported that it has reached a preliminary agreement to sell another silo located in Valparaiso, Saskatchewan. This transaction is expected to close after it receives approval from the Canadian Minister of Transport. The company emphasized that these measures are part of its regulatory obligations tied to the merger’s completion.

Since the merger was finalized on July 2, the assets in question have been managed by an independent Hold Separate Manager, with oversight from a third party approved by the Canadian government. This arrangement was established to maintain independent operations of the divested assets until their sale was completed.

Separately, apart from the merger-related commitments, Bunge has also sold a silo located in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan, to F.W. Cobs. The company additionally completed the acquisition of assets from North West Terminal Ltd. (NWT) near Unity, Saskatchewan. These moves reflect the company’s ongoing efforts to optimize its asset portfolio and strengthen its operations across key agricultural regions in Canada.

Following its merger with Viterra, Bunge, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, has expanded its global operational footprint. The combined entity now operates more than 300 grain storage facilities, 40 port terminals, and 155 processing and packaging plants across over 50 countries. The merger has created one of the world’s largest integrated agribusiness networks, enhancing its capacity in grain trading, oilseed processing, and food ingredient production.

Through these recent transactions and asset adjustments, Bunge continues to align with regulatory requirements while maintaining its focus on efficient global supply chain management and strengthening its presence in the Canadian grain market.
