Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 19, DuPont has officially broken ground on a new manufacturing plant for its MOLYKOTE® specialty lubricants in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, East China. The facility, located in the Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park within the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone, is scheduled to be operational by early 2027. This move is a key part of DuPont’s strategy to expand its global capacity, enhance customer responsiveness, and drive regional innovation in the MOLYKOTE® business.

The new plant aims to meet strong customer demand for advanced lubricants in industries such as transportation, industrial, energy, and electronics in China. With this facility, DuPont seeks to improve its ability to quickly respond to customer needs by offering shorter lead times, greater agility, and enhanced collaboration with local clients. The facility will also serve as a hub for innovation, allowing DuPont to deliver next-generation lubricant solutions with speed and precision.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key DuPont executives, including Eugenio Toccalino, Vice President and General Manager of DuPont™ MOLYKOTE®; Marc Turco, Global Integrated Operations Director of DuPont™ MOLYKOTE®; and Yi Zhang, Regional President of DuPont Asia Pacific. They were joined by customers, government representatives, and several DuPont employees.

In his remarks, Toccalino emphasized that the new plant represents the beginning of a new chapter for DuPont in China. “This facility will boost local capabilities for application and new formulation development, empowering customer collaboration and response in real time,” he said.

Yi Zhang also expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “This manufacturing unit will enable us to address current needs and future trends for specialty lubricants. It reflects our confidence in the long-term potential of customers in China and the Asia-Pacific region and reinforces our commitment to deliver faster, more resilient, and locally tailored solutions.”

The MOLYKOTE® Specialty Lubricants business, which already has manufacturing and research operations in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, is focused on offering advanced lubricants that address wear and friction challenges across various industries.

This new facility in Zhangjiagang is expected to strengthen DuPont’s position as a leading provider of specialized lubricants in the region, supporting its goal of delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving demands of customers in China and beyond.
