Wedoany.com Report-Dec.1, Super-Eco Tankers Management, a Greece-based operator, has placed a new order for up to four 41,000 dwt MR product and chemical tankers at Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding in China. The contract structure covers two firm vessels plus one option plus one further option, with the confirmed pair set for delivery in 2028. Commercial details of the agreement remain undisclosed.

The transaction represents Super-Eco's first newbuilding commitment in over two years and continues the fleet-modernization program of the Tomasos family-controlled company. The current fleet consists of nine modern tankers, the most recent of which was delivered from Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding in 2022.

Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding has seen growing interest from international owners since completing its restructuring and resuming operations under new ownership in 2021. Super-Eco becomes the third Greek shipping company to contract new vessels at the yard in the current cycle.

Other recent customers include Conbulk Shipping, which earlier this year ordered two 5,000 teu containerships, marking the company's entry into the newbuilding sector, and Chartworld Shipping, controlled by the Kollakis family, which contracted up to eight 3,100 teu feeder containerships.

In August, the Chinese shipbuilder also declared options from MC Group for four 50,000 dwt product tankers in a package valued at over $200 million.

The series of contracts at Yangzhou Guoyu reflects sustained demand for specialized product and chemical carriers as owners seek to renew tonnage with efficient, modern designs. The yard's expanding orderbook demonstrates continued confidence among European and international owners in Chinese shipbuilding capabilities for medium-range tankers and related segments.

For Super-Eco Tankers Management, headquartered in Piraeus, the investment supports long-term operational requirements in the clean and chemical products trade while maintaining a young and competitive fleet profile. The new vessels will incorporate current industry standards for environmental performance and operational flexibility upon entry into service in 2028.
