Delta Resumes Flights at Detroit After Brief Halt

The carrier implemented a travel waiver for passengers flying through the airport on Friday and Saturday due to the disruptions.

The ground stop, which affected only Delta flights, led to the cancellation of 36 flights and delays for 97 others, according to data from FlightAware. The issue was confirmed to be specific to Delta's operations, and the Detroit Metropolitan Airport issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter) explaining that it did not impact other airlines.

Detroit is one of Delta's largest hubs, with flights connecting to 106 destinations worldwide, as outlined on the airline's website. The ground stop, which temporarily halts departing flights, is a standard air traffic control measure usually implemented due to safety, weather, or operational concerns.

Delta issued an apology for the inconvenience caused to its passengers and thanked them for their patience. The airline emphasized that its teams were working to return to normal operations as quickly and safely as possible.
