Wedoany.com Report-Jan.3, A committee led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has recently approved two significant urban infrastructure projects for Panchkula: the construction of a new bridge over the Ghaggar River and the beautification project for the Jal Dhara water channel.
Ghaggar Bridge Project
The Ghaggar Bridge project has garnered significant attention in the city's infrastructure development. The proposed bridge, with an estimated cost of 32.5 million rupees, will be 333.9 meters long and 14 meters wide, featuring a three-lane design. Currently, the existing two-lane bridge, as part of the city's infrastructure, struggles to handle the increasing traffic volume, frequently causing congestion issues for residents in Sectors 23 to 28. The new bridge is expected to be completed within 24 months. Once operational, the two bridges will be designated for one-way traffic.
Jal Dhara Beautification
The Jal Dhara beautification project is another crucial component of urban infrastructure development, with a budget of 9.542 billion rupees. This project focuses on renovating two drainage channels: one extending 5.6 kilometers from the Mata Mansa Devi Temple to the Rajiv-Indira Colony, and another, the Singh Drain, stretching 5.3 kilometers from Sector 1 to the Industrial Area. Currently, these drains, as part of the city's infrastructure, are in poor condition, plagued by issues such as waterlogging, foul odors, mosquito breeding, and illegal waste dumping. The renovation plan is comprehensive, including the construction of a 1.5-meter-wide precast central drain, reinforced concrete retaining walls, galvanized iron sheet fencing, the addition of bicycle lanes and footpaths, the installation of steel bridges and streetlights, and extensive landscaping. These improvements will holistically enhance the city's infrastructure.
