Wedoany.com Report on Feb 5th, The Australian Federal Government and the Victorian State Government have jointly launched the Dairy Supply Chain Road Upgrade Project, aiming to enhance transport efficiency in the country's largest dairy-producing region. The project covers a total of six kilometers of road sections along the Cobden-Stonyford Road, the Bulahdelah and the Purnim-Yallock sections of the Princes Highway West, including road surface improvements, the addition of safety barriers, and the optimization of traffic signs and markings.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King stated: "The dairy supply chain road network in southwestern Victoria transports 24% of the nation's milk daily, involving 392,000 cows from over 1,000 farms, with an annual production of 2.05 billion liters." She added: "These works will also accommodate future growth in passenger vehicle traffic and meet a projected 20% increase in freight demand over the next 25 years, driven by tourism, dairy, and other industries."
Upgrade works on two sections of the Cobden-Stonyford Road, totaling three kilometers, commenced in late November, located between Evans Road in Cobden and Shenfield Lane in Bulahdelah. Concurrently, the three-kilometer upgrade plan for the Princes Highway West and the Purnim-Yallock section is also progressing.
Victorian Minister for Agriculture Ros Spence emphasized: "A robust dairy supply chain is crucial for the economy and the communities it supports. By investing in transport infrastructure that connects farms, processors, and markets, we are helping the dairy industry maintain its productivity, competitiveness, and reliability." This $37.7 million Dairy Supply Chain Road Upgrade Project is jointly funded by the Federal and State Governments, contributing $18.9 million and $18.8 million respectively.
