Wedoany.com Report on Feb 7th, Football, as a global sport, is undergoing profound transformation driven by artificial intelligence technology. Recently, multinational technology company Globant and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced a further deepening of their collaboration to jointly develop a new version of a mobile application integrated with advanced AI features, expected to be officially launched before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This initiative aims to empower technology to create a smarter, more personalized, and immersive digital viewing experience for billions of football fans worldwide.
Since 2022, Globant has been FIFA's official digital partner. This expanded collaboration marks a key step for both parties in the field of artificial intelligence applications. Martín Migoya, Co-founder and CEO of Globant, stated: "We are delighted to deepen our collaboration with FIFA to jointly embark on a new phase of football innovation. Technology has the power to amplify the power of sport—it enables deeper emotional connections for fans around the world, richer interactive experiences, and more personalized content journeys."
According to the cooperation agreement, Globant will become the official event supporter for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in North America and Europe. The new generation FIFA application will deeply integrate AI technology, not only providing real-time match data and performance analysis but also delivering personalized content based on user preferences to enhance viewing interaction. Furthermore, the two parties will jointly launch the "FIFA Player Data Market," integrating currently fragmented football data resources across different platforms and systems to provide athletes, fans, scouts, and even clubs with real-time, multi-dimensional performance insights and decision support.
In recent years, artificial intelligence has been applied across multiple levels of football. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system utilizes computer vision technology for millimeter-level offside detection; clubs use injury prediction models to analyze player training and physiological data to scientifically reduce injury risks; professional analysis software can track and record thousands of movement details for each player on the field, providing a basis for tactical planning. Technologies once limited to top-tier clubs are now gradually becoming more accessible through cloud services and AI platforms, driving the overall football industry towards a data-driven transformation.
Matthias Grafström, FIFA Secretary General, pointed out: "This new agreement between FIFA and Globant reflects the shared vision of both organizations to reshape the football experience in the digital era. While embracing technological innovation, we remain committed to preserving the unique emotional warmth, community cohesion, and global influence of this sport. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Globant to develop digital services that make competitions more attractive, engaging, and connective for fans."
Globant has a broad presence in the sports technology sector, recently completing the acquisition of a 51% stake in Spain's LALIGA Tech and establishing a joint venture sports technology company named Sportian. Simultaneously, the company is also collaborating with international sports and entertainment brands such as Riot Games and Formula One, providing comprehensive services covering software development, data analysis, and fan interaction platforms. By deeply integrating the emotional core of football with cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, Globant and FIFA are jointly building the next generation of intelligent football ecosystems. By the time of the 2026 World Cup, such digital experiences are expected to further permeate every corner of the globe, redefining how people participate in, watch, and love football.
