Wedoany.com Report on Feb 10th, The Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba published the text of the new collective agreement for freight transport in Andalusia last week. This agreement establishes labor standards for the freight transport sector for the next two years.
This new freight collective agreement is valid for two years, covering 2026 and 2027. During this period, total wages will increase by 7%, with an annual increase of 3.5%, providing a clear path for salary improvement for industry employees.
The agreement introduces several updates regarding work in cold storage facilities. A new category of Cold Storage Operator has been established, with a pay scale equivalent to that of a specialized porter-forklift driver. Additionally, it stipulates that working time in cold storage shall be a maximum of 50 minutes per hour to safeguard working conditions.
The agreement also establishes a Cold Allowance, valued at 20% of the base salary, applicable to employees who work inside cold storage facilities for at least half a day. This aims to compensate for the additional challenges posed by the special working environment.
Furthermore, the agreement includes an Addictive Behaviors Protocol, which stipulates alcohol and drug consumption testing for professional drivers, with a maximum of two such tests per year, to promote road safety. The implementation of this new freight collective agreement is expected to impact the operations of the freight transport sector in the province of Córdoba and the Andalusia region.
