Wedoany.com Report on Feb 25th, A new subsea trenching machine, custom-built for a Danish power cable manufacturer and installation company, has recently arrived at the Port of Blyth in the UK, where assembly and commissioning work is underway. This trenching machine is regarded by the industry as a high-performance piece of equipment, poised to bring new breakthroughs to subsea cable installation.

It is reported that this trenching machine is the NKT T3600 model, which NKT announced an investment in back in June 2025 as part of its ongoing plan to invest in cable installation capabilities. One month later, NKT signed a four-year framework agreement with Helix Robotics Solutions, the UK robotics division of Helix Energy Solutions Group. The agreement covers the installation, offshore operations, project engineering, and maintenance of the trenching machine. The machine will be deployed on a support vessel provided by Helix to jointly serve subsea cable installation projects.

The design and construction of the trenching machine were handled by the UK original equipment supplier Osbit. NKT states that the T3600 trenching machine will boast a powerful 3600 horsepower, capable of burying cables up to 5.5 meters deep beneath the seabed. Additionally, the machine is equipped with jetting and cutting functions, enabling flexible operation in various soil conditions to meet the demands of different subsea environments.
