en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 27, Swedish metal cutting tool manufacturer Seco launched the MS3501 new milling insert grade, targeting medium to rough machining conditions across ISO P, M, and S workpiece materials. The product features a micro-alloyed coarse-grain cemented carbide substrate and a Ti(C,N)–Al₂O₃ chemical vapor deposition (CVD) coating, and is primarily intended for high-speed milling of superalloys, precipitation-hardening steels, high-alloy steels, and stainless steels.

MS3501 employs a strengthened binder phase design that improves the cemented carbide substrate's resistance to chipping, cracking, and thermal shock. Its CVD coating, composed of titanium carbonitride and aluminum oxide, is optimized for heat resistance and wear resistance under the high-temperature cutting conditions encountered when machining low-thermal-conductivity materials.

The insert manufacturing process incorporates dedicated pre-treatment and post-treatment processes to reduce cutting surface friction and suppress built-up edge, chip welding, and vibration during the machining of adhesive materials. The product also integrates used cutting edge identification technology to identify insert usage status and manage cutting edge utilization.

According to the product technical data released by Seco, MS3501 is suitable for square shoulder milling, high-feed milling, copy milling, and face milling, covering tool series including Turbo, High Feed, Octomill, and Quattromill. The product complements the MP2051 grade with physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating, with MS3501 focusing on machining tasks requiring high heat resistance and higher cutting speeds.
