Wedoany.com Report on Feb 26th, InterCity has integrated four new New Zealand-made buses into its fleet, with the first vehicles commencing operations on key long-distance routes this month, aiming to optimize passenger travel experience.

These buses will operate on routes between Auckland and Tauranga, as well as Auckland and Wellington, to enhance comfort and safety features. Operated by the Entrada Travel Group, InterCity connects over 600 destinations nationwide, and the company stated that this addition of buses represents a significant investment in upgrading long-distance transport services.

Passengers can choose GOLD premium leather seats, offering extra legroom, reclining backrests, and USB charging ports, or opt for standard reclining seats also equipped with USB charging functionality. The buses feature a new 12-speed transmission, enabling smoother gear shifts and a more comfortable ride.

InterCity Chief Operating Officer Sam Peate noted that this procurement reflects the company's commitment to long-distance transport: "Purchasing these new buses is a major investment for InterCity. Unlike other public transport operators, InterCity does not receive any form of funding or subsidy. This investment in these buses demonstrates InterCity's dedication to providing more long-distance transport options for commuters and tourists."

The vehicles are also equipped with upgraded safety systems, including an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which integrates smart sensors, lane departure warnings, and a Smart Dash digital cockpit display. The bus bodies were manufactured in New Zealand by Kiwi Bus Builders and feature a minimalist all-white livery. Two of the four buses have already been put into service over the Waitangi weekend, with the remaining two expected to join the fleet by the end of February, further enriching long-distance transport options.
