Wedoany.com Report on Feb 26th, Romanian engineering company Glo Marine has announced an investment in an integrated assembly and production facility in Galați, aimed at strengthening its ship refit business. With a total investment of €6 million (approximately $7 million), this project will integrate functions such as engineering, manufacturing, electrical integration, and system pre-assembly to optimize the company's existing service processes.
Construction of the ship refit facility has commenced and is scheduled for completion by the end of this year, with production operations expected to begin in February 2027. Glo Marine stated that by expanding internal manufacturing and integration capabilities, the company will establish a "more controlled and coordinated execution model." This will enable more efficient management of technical interfaces, reduce on-board installation time, and provide clearer scheduling for vessels in commercial service.
The new Galați facility will enhance Glo Marine's ability to design, manufacture, and pre-integrate complex systems across multiple technical areas. This includes steel structures and secondary outfitting components, advanced piping systems and prefabricated pipe sections, skid- and module-based mechanical assemblies, electrical panels and switchboards, ready-to-integrate hybrid power modules, as well as pre-configured retrofit packages such as air lubrication systems. The completion of this ship refit facility will further boost the company's competitiveness in the global maritime engineering market.
