Instrument Principle
β rays are high-speed electrons. When they penetrate a substance, part of them is absorbed, causing intensity attenuation. Under certain conditions, the amount of attenuation depends only on the mass of the absorbing substance and is independent of other physical properties of the absorbing substance (such as particulate material, color, gloss, shape, etc.), allowing direct measurement of atmospheric particulate mass concentration. This instrument uses low-energy ¹⁴C as the β ray source. The rays pass twice through clean filter paper and filter paper with collected particulates before and after collection. Based on the change in beta ray absorption, the mass of particulates is calculated using the Lambert-Beer law.
Application Scope
TH-2000PM (portable) Atmospheric Particulate Matter Concentration Monitor is a new instrument developed by our company in accordance with the latest standards of the Ministry of Environmental Protection. Based on the beta ray principle and equipped with different sampling cutters, it can monitor TSP, PM10, PM2.5, PM1 concentrations in ambient air over the long term. It is mainly used for grid-based monitoring, construction site dust monitoring, portable air automatic stations, and rapid and accurate determination of particulate matter concentrations in environmental enforcement work.
