Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor Corporation (MCO) completed the acquisition of all shares in the Swiss company AST Turbo AG on February 27th, aiming to strengthen its global rotating equipment maintenance service capabilities. AST specializes in the maintenance, inspection, and on-site services for rotating equipment such as compressors and steam turbines, serving the energy sectors including oil and gas.

AST possesses advanced engineering capabilities and an experienced technical team, for example, utilizing 3D laser measurement for virtual assembly. The company has extensive project experience in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and other regions. Through this acquisition, MCO will integrate AST's customer resources and technical expertise to enhance on-site service coverage in international markets.
Turbo machinery, such as compressors, requires after-sales services including regular replacement of wear parts, repairs, and inspections. In recent years, customers have increasingly preferred shorter inspection cycles to extend equipment uptime, adopting virtual assembly technology and experienced supervisors. MCO and AST have a long-standing cooperative relationship, having jointly completed multiple on-site service projects.
After the acquisition, AST Turbo AG will operate under its existing management team, combining the technical strengths of MCO and the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group to expand its business scale and improve service quality. This move is part of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group's Partnering Initiative. The company plans to integrate external expertise through global strategic collaborations to provide technical products and services to more customers.
Virtual assembly technology uses 3D data to simulate the assembly process, which can reduce on-site steps, shorten inspection times, and improve plant operational efficiency. MCO is committed to better meeting the needs of global customers through this acquisition by providing high-quality rotating equipment maintenance solutions.
