en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 23, Superior Materials, a U.S. concrete producer under Brazil's Votorantim Cimentos, announced that its Jefferson ready-mixed concrete plant in Detroit, Michigan, has completed an upgrade and renovation at a total investment of $15 million. Following the renovation, the plant's concrete production capacity has doubled, and the number of union employees has also doubled. A reopening ceremony is scheduled for October 27.

The Jefferson plant is located about 3 miles south of downtown Detroit along the Rouge River and is an important ready-mixed concrete production facility for Superior Materials in the area. The company carried out production facility upgrades at the original site to expand concrete mixing and supply capacity. According to previously announced equipment arrangements, the new facility is equipped with two central mixing plants, which can organize production according to the mix design requirements of different projects and support simultaneous supply of multiple concrete products.

The plant's supply area covers Detroit and southeastern Michigan, serving projects including commercial high-rise buildings, residential buildings, municipal roads, schools, hospitals, and water supply and drainage infrastructure. Superior Materials has previously supplied concrete products for construction projects such as Little Caesars Arena, Hudson Tower, and the JW Marriott hotel in Detroit. The added capacity will continue to be used for ready-mixed concrete supply for local building and infrastructure projects.

Superior Materials operates 15 ready-mixed concrete production facilities in southeastern Michigan, covering areas including Detroit, Flint, and Ann Arbor. Its parent company, Votorantim Cimentos, has North American operations covering cement, aggregates, and ready-mixed concrete production. This renovation is an upgrade of production facilities at an existing concrete mixing plant, not the construction of a new cement clinker production line.
