Wedoany.com Report on Mar 4th, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched and laid foundation stones for transportation infrastructure projects with a total value exceeding 440 billion rupees in Madurai, stating this will significantly boost the development of Tamil Nadu. These projects cover areas such as highways and railways, aiming to improve regional connectivity and promote economic growth.

Major transportation infrastructure projects include the four-laning of the Marakkanam-Puducherry highway section, costing 210 billion rupees; and the four-laning of the Paramakudi-Ramanathapuram highway section, costing 180 billion rupees. These road upgrade projects aim to reduce travel time by up to 50% and improve connectivity with coastal areas, industrial hubs, and pilgrimage sites like Rameswaram.
In the railway sector, eight stations have been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, and the Chennai Beach-Egmore fourth line has been commissioned to ease suburban congestion. Modi highlighted the significant progress in Tamil Nadu's railway network, including near-complete electrification works, stating these transportation infrastructure improvements will enhance overall transport efficiency.
At the launch ceremony, Modi emphasized that transportation infrastructure is a driver for economic growth and employment, reaffirming the central government's commitment to a "Developed Tamil Nadu, Developed India," aligning with the Vision 2047. The multiple transportation infrastructure projects launched aim to enhance the efficiency of Tamil Nadu's transport network and promote regional socio-economic development.
