Senegal MK Toll Expressway Constructed by CRBC Opens to Traffic

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, the inauguration ceremony for the Mbour-Kaolack Toll Expressway Project (referred to as the "MK Project"), constructed by our company, was held in Senegal. Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye attended the event and delivered a speech. Chinese Ambassador to Senegal Li Zhigang, Economic and Commercial Counselor Rong Weidong, Senegalese Minister of Infrastructure Dèje Faye, Minister of Transport Abdoul Ahad Ndiaye, and Chief Accountant of our company Ou Weihui attended the ceremony.

In his speech, President Faye congratulated the early opening of the MK Project to traffic and highly praised CRBC, as a representative enterprise of China-Senegal cooperation, for its significant contributions to infrastructure development in Senegal. He noted that the opening of the MK Expressway will play an important role in the movement of people and goods in Senegal, particularly in strengthening transportation links between the central region and the capital, Dakar. He emphasized that the early opening of the project is of great significance for ensuring transportation during the upcoming Gamou Festival (Mawlid al-Nabi / commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad).

The MK Project is located in east-central Senegal, connecting the two major cities of Mbour and Kaolack. The project spans a total length of 99.2 kilometers, featuring a two-way four-lane design with a design speed of 130 km/h. Construction commenced on April 8, 2022, and the expressway was officially opened to traffic today. As a key project under the "China-Senegal Strategic Cooperation," the opening of the project will significantly reduce travel time from the capital Dakar to Kaolack, boosting economic and social development along the route.

The MK Project connects to Mali in the east and Gambia in the south, serving as an indispensable key section of the Trans-African Highway Network. It is expected to strongly promote economic growth in Senegal, Mali, Gambia, and the sub-region.

The head of the Senegal subsidiary and relevant MK Project personnel also attended the event.
