Wedoany.com Report on Mar 9th, South Korean chemical company Lotte Fine Chemical announced that it has completed the world's first commercial-scale import of green ammonia. The shipment has arrived at Ulsan Port and is stored at Lotte Fine Chemical's ammonia terminal in Ulsan, which is the largest ammonia storage facility in Asia.

Lotte Fine Chemical imported this green ammonia from Chinese technology company Envision Group. This transportation marks the world's first cross-border commercial trade of green ammonia. The imported green ammonia was produced entirely using 100% renewable energy (wind and solar power) and originated from the green hydrogen and ammonia production complex built by Envision Group in Inner Mongolia, China.

The project has been certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) and received a Level 1 certification under the Clean Hydrogen Certification System of the Korea Energy Economics Institute. This achievement validates the practical feasibility of the global green ammonia value chain, providing crucial support for the energy transition in the net-zero era.

To establish a global clean ammonia supply chain, Lotte Fine Chemical is actively collaborating with global companies and institutions and conducting demonstration projects in multiple regions. Through these efforts, the company aims to build a multi-channel sales platform and become a leading clean ammonia hub in Asia.

Lotte Fine Chemical plans to utilize the imported green ammonia to meet the growing demand for carbon-free energy applications, including ammonia bunkering as a marine fuel, co-firing for power generation, and serving as a clean hydrogen carrier. The world is closely watching this first commercially introduced green ammonia, not only at corporate and national levels but also globally.

Lotte Fine Chemical CEO Chung Seung-won stated: "We will continue to strengthen the foundation to become Asia's leading clean ammonia hub through collaboration with global industry leaders." Envision Group Senior Vice President Lou Yimin said: "This ship carries more than just ammonia; it carries our commitment to a sustainable future. By successfully launching this first vessel, Envision has proven that the green ammonia value chain is no longer just a blueprint; it has become a reality. Leveraging physical artificial intelligence to harness the vast renewable resources of the Gobi Desert, we are now able to deliver zero-carbon fuel to the world, starting with our partners in South Korea."
