Wedonay.com Report on Mar 18th, Australian Quality Fabrication and Engineering (QFEAUS) is introducing its forward-moving aggregate paver, the Road Ant, to the US market, having secured a US patent. Company General Manager Glenn Hardiman and Sales Director David Lockwood explained the significance of this expansion.

Since its launch six years ago, the Road Ant paver has been widely used in Victoria, South Australia, and New South Wales, and adopted by major contractors. Its design addresses safety risks associated with traditional reverse-dumping pavers, such as operator fatigue and limited rearward visibility. Hardiman stated: "In Australia, non-reversing operations are becoming increasingly important on worksites, with many accidents linked to reversing machinery. Through industry discussions, we developed the Road Ant to tackle these challenges."
As Australia's first forward-moving paver, the Road Ant has obtained a US patent and is progressing through patent processes in New Zealand, Canada, and Europe. Lockwood noted: "The forward-moving concept is innovative in Australia. We conducted a global patent search to strategically internationalize it. The Road Ant's unique design has gained international recognition." The company believes features like the dual-control rear cabin will enhance the machine's competitiveness in the US market, adapting to left-hand drive requirements and improving operational accuracy and safety.
QFE plans to support US customers through training videos and remote software systems to mitigate the impact of geographical distance. Hardiman said: "We are creating built-in training videos to guide operators on usage and troubleshooting." Lockwood added: "Partnering with local licensees will provide timely support, and the remote system can resolve most issues." The company anticipates 2026 will be a pivotal year for growth and is seeking partners to expand its market presence. Lockwood concluded: "We are confident in the design, and international expansion will impact the global road industry. This represents the fusion of Australian innovation with global technology."
