President Mwinyi extended a warm welcome to Bai Yinzhan and his delegation and expressed full affirmation of China Harbour's participation in the construction of the Mangapwani New Port in Zanzibar. He pointed out that Zanzibar is fully promoting its "Blue Economy" development strategy, vigorously developing key areas such as transportation infrastructure, fisheries, tourism, water supply, green power, and livelihood improvement. He expressed hope that China Harbour would further strengthen cooperation with the Zanzibar government and business community, expand cooperation areas, deepen cooperation levels, and yield more fruitful results from friendly cooperation.
Bai Yinzhan expressed sincere gratitude to President Mwinyi and the Zanzibar government for their full trust and support for China Harbour and provided an update on the progress of the Mangapwani New Port. He stated that China Harbour possesses successful experience from multiple port projects in Tanzania, abundant equipment resources, and a professional team, and has full confidence in completing the project with high quality and standards, creating a modern, regionally competitive port. China Harbour has globally leading industrial chain advantages and strong resource integration capabilities in the "Five Comprehensive, Ten Chains" fields, which aligns well with Zanzibar's "Blue Economy" development direction. The company will further leverage its comprehensive and integrated advantages across the entire infrastructure industry chain to engage in practical cooperation with Zanzibar in areas such as tourism economy, marine economy, green power, urban renewal, and livelihood improvement, aiming to create more landmark and livelihood projects with high quality.
On the same day, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mangapwani New Port Project was held. President Mwinyi and Bai Yinzhan jointly attended the event and delivered speeches. During the ceremony, Mwinyi and Bai Yinzhan jointly unveiled the project's foundation stone, marking the official commencement of the Mangapwani New Port Project. 
The Mangapwani New Port Project is a landmark project under the China-Tanzania Belt and Road cooperation. It will involve the construction of two 70,000-ton multi-purpose berths and two 30,000-ton multi-purpose berths. Upon completion, the project will significantly reduce logistics costs, greatly enhance Tanzania's status as a regional transportation hub, and promote local employment and industrial upgrading.
