As the first flywheel energy storage demonstration project of Huadian Engineering, this project marks a significant advancement for the enterprise in the field of new energy storage technologies, enhances its engineering implementation capabilities, and lays a foundation for expanding energy storage business and promoting energy transition.

The core of the project includes an 8MW/800kWh magnetic levitation flywheel energy storage unit, utilizing efficient and clean mechanical energy storage technology. Flywheel energy storage boasts features such as rapid response, safety and reliability, long lifespan, and low operation and maintenance costs. With a response time of 10-50 milliseconds and a cycle life exceeding one million times, it can meet the demand for fast and stable frequency regulation in the power system's primary frequency regulation, providing support for grid operation.

Primary frequency regulation is a crucial link in ensuring the reliability of power supply. After commissioning, this project will work in coordination with existing units to enhance the frequency regulation capability and stability of the Shanxi power grid, promoting regional power system balance.
