en.Wedoany.com Reported - China's Hubei Yihua plans to commence construction of an integrated chemical production base in May 2026 in Area B of the Yaojiagang Chemical Industrial Park in Yichang City. With a total investment of 4.88771 billion yuan, the project will establish a complete industrial chain from syngas separation to fine chemical production by building new facilities for 200,000 tons of ethanol and 300,000 tons of dimethyl carbonate (DMC), along with supporting units. The construction period is 24 months, and it is expected to be completed and operational by May 2028.
The core focus of the production base is battery electrolyte solvent materials. Among these, the 300,000-ton/year electronic-grade dimethyl carbonate unit will adopt the methanol low-pressure vapor-phase oxidative carbonylation process, using carbon monoxide and methanol as raw materials for one-step synthesis in a fixed-bed reactor. Downstream supporting facilities include a 100,000-ton/year unit for ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC) and diethyl carbonate (DEC). Through a transesterification method, DMC and ethanol undergo a secondary reversible reaction to produce 83,300 tons of electronic-grade EMC and 16,700 tons of electronic-grade DEC annually.
The project also concurrently develops the ethanol and derivatives process chain. The 200,000-ton/year ethanol unit employs dimethyl ether-to-ethanol (DMTE) technology, consisting of synthesis, carbonylation, and product separation sections. In addition to serving as a raw material for transesterification, the produced ethanol will react with ammonia to produce ethylamines. This amination unit, by adjusting process parameters, is designed to produce 7,500 tons of monoethylamine and 22,500 tons of triethylamine per year.
To ensure raw material supply for the units, the base includes a supporting H2/CO separation system. This system utilizes cryogenic separation combined with pressure swing adsorption (PSA method) to process syngas. The extracted high-purity carbon monoxide and hydrogen will be directly supplied to various production units. With the overall project commissioning in 2028, the Yaojiagang Chemical Industrial Park will gain significant new capacity for electronic-grade chemicals.
