en.Wedoany.com Reported - Turkish solar manufacturer Kalyon PV has commissioned a 1.1GW solar cell processing line at its domestic facility. The line will be used to process G12R (approximately 182x210mm) TOPConPlus solar cells, increasing the company's annual nameplate solar cell production capacity to 2.1GW.

Founded in 2017, Kalyon PV began production in Ankara in 2020. The commissioning of this solar cell processing line brings the company's vertically integrated annual nameplate manufacturing capacity to 1GW for ingots and wafers, and 1.9GW for modules. Last year, the manufacturer was included in Kiwa PVEL's 2025 Module Reliability Scorecard as a "Top Performer," which the company says marks the first time a Turkish manufacturer has been selected and passed six out of seven tests.

Over the past few years, Turkey's solar manufacturing sector has continued to grow, with multiple Turkish manufacturers as well as Chinese manufacturer Astronergy announcing plans to invest in solar cell processing in the country. A total of five manufacturers plan to invest over US$2.5 billion to build solar cell factories nationwide.

PV Tech Head of Market Research Moustafa Ramadan recently wrote in an article: "Turkey's solar manufacturing industry is growing organically, driven by domestic demand and proximity to the European market. While its capacity figures are smaller compared to other Middle Eastern countries, Turkey's strategic location makes it a key player in serving the European and US markets."
