Wedoany.com Report-Jan 20, Powerhouse Energy Group PLC (AIM:PHE), the company turning non-recyclable waste into low-carbon energy, is joining forces with Avioxx to help produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

The two firms are collaborating on Avioxx’s Project Eden, a pilot facility that aims to produce 200 tonnes of SAF per year. Avioxx, which operates out of London and Cheshire, has developed a patented process to create the fuel using waste that would otherwise go to landfill.

Under the plan, Powerhouse will supply two 2.5-tonne-per-day gasification units from its testing site in Bridgend. These units will convert waste into syngas, a key raw material for SAF production, and could also form the basis of an ongoing service agreement between the companies.

The project combines the patented technologies of both firms, highlighting the potential for smaller-scale facilities to make a big impact in the shift to cleaner aviation. Powerhouse’s Distributed Modular Generation (DMG) system is central to the initiative and could also pave the way for larger SAF facilities in the future.

Powerhouse CEO Paul Emmitt told investors: "This is a highly significant development for the company as it further shows the potential of our technology and its adaptability to be able to service a wide number of industries.

"SAF has huge potential for us and is a sector that undoubtedly can benefit from using our technology to provide cleaner fuels for the aviation industry."

Project Eden is still in development, but Powerhouse sees this partnership as a key step towards a lower-carbon future. More details about the project are available at Avioxx’s website, while information on Powerhouse’s DMG technology can be found at phegroup.com.
