en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 17, Irish green fuel company ETFuels selected the Port of Immingham in northeast England as the site for its flagship sustainable aviation fuel refinery. The e-SAF refinery project, named Project Kings Road Humber and previously known as Project SkyFuel, plans to convert renewable e-methanol into sustainable aviation fuel to serve the UK aviation fuel network and international markets.

According to the project plan, the e-SAF refinery will have an annual production capacity of approximately 35,000 tonnes. The project will use renewable e-methanol supplied from ETFuels' production platform in Texas, USA, and leverage existing fuel storage, pipelines, and port infrastructure at the Port of Immingham. The port area offers fuel logistics, storage, and maritime access, facilitating the project's subsequent integration into the aviation fuel supply chain.

ETFuels stated that the project is expected to create up to 1,000 jobs during the construction phase and approximately 400 long-term technical positions during the operational phase. The company is backed by French asset management firm SWEN Capital Partners, with a project portfolio covering markets including the US, UK, Spain, and Finland. Following the advancement of the UK e-SAF refinery project, subsequent focus will center on engineering design, feedstock supply, fuel certification, financing arrangements, and long-term offtake agreements. The project's realization will depend on aviation fuel market demand and the stability of renewable e-methanol supply.
