en.Wedoany.com Reported - The National Information Society Agency (NIA) of South Korea has issued a tender notice for the "AI for All Lab (모두의 AI 실험실) Online Platform Upgrade" project, with a budget of approximately 3 billion won. The plan is to reorganize the existing developer-centric platform into a participatory platform where all citizens can plan, develop, and verify AI services within 120 days of signing the contract.
This platform upgrade aligns with the government's recently announced "AI for All Project (모두의 AI 프로젝트)." The government plans to launch free AI services for the public using domestically developed AI models within the year, while also building a development environment where citizens can directly create AI services.
Currently, the "AI for All Lab (모두의 AI 실험실)" provides development support including cloud computing resources, graphics processing units (GPUs), and AI development tools. The upgraded platform will add community features, enabling citizens to propose social and local issues, register and discuss AI-based solutions. It will also establish a system for filtering ideas through likes and votes, team formation, and service development that connects to actual projects.
The development environment will support users in developing AI services using cloud computing and GPU resources, and will provide access to various Vibe Coding (바이브 코딩) tools including Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, ChatGPT, and Gemini. The platform will also offer open-source models based on its own GPUs to reduce development costs.
The government is simultaneously promoting an AI application culture through public participation. The ongoing national AI competition has seen participation exceed 1 million people just three months after its opening. The competition operates diverse programs such as AI Q&A, creative activities, AI service development, and application case collection, open to the general public, students, and experts.
Within the public sector, cases of civil servants using generative AI to directly create work tools are emerging. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety supports field-oriented AI development by operating AI Champions (AI 챔피언) and working groups, as well as hosting hackathons, encouraging civil servants to directly use AI to solve administrative field issues.
The government plans to build an AI ecosystem accessible to everyone, based on free AI service provision, citizen-participatory development platforms, AI competitions, and public sector AI innovation. The goal is to transform AI from a technology for a few experts into a life technology that citizens can directly use and create. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung-hoon (배경훈) stated during the presidential working report on the 16th that starting from the second half of this year, efforts will begin to realize an AI-based society for everyone, ensuring that growth benefits all citizens.
