en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK-based Clarity Plastics has invested in its largest ever injection moulding machine to support new growth opportunities in the building and facilities sectors.
The specialist plastic injection moulder, formed last year following the completion of acquisitions of Barkley Plastics and LVS, has invested £500,000 to create a dedicated production cell for a Bole 1,500-tonne machine. The equipment is capable of producing large and heavy mouldings that require greater clamping force.
The injection moulding machine will be installed at the company's Highgate Street facility in Birmingham, boosting the company's capacity beyond 800 tonnes for the first time, while also enhancing its ability to secure orders by utilising capacity at its sister plant in Telford.
An initial contract with a major UK manufacturer will immediately occupy a significant portion of the machine's capacity. This investment also enables the company to offer customers the service of supporting both large and small mouldings within the same solution.
"This investment is a real statement of intent and will help us reduce lead times, increase capacity, lower supply chain complexity, and take on larger, more complex mouldings," said Matt Harwood, Director of Clarity Plastics. "It also aligns with our ongoing sustainability initiatives, including improving energy efficiency and supporting customers in choosing recycled and more sustainable polymers. Very few companies in the Midlands offer 1,500-tonne capacity. This gives both existing and new customers confidence that we are expanding with purpose and can support their full injection moulding needs—from single components to fully finished, assembled, and packaged products."
He further noted that integrating the strengths of Barkley Plastics and LVS means the two sites now possess over 100 years of combined experience, with facilities that rival any in the UK and Europe in terms of capability, quality, and performance.
In addition to the new injection moulding machine, Clarity Plastics has invested in two new vans and a 7.5-tonne truck to strengthen in-house logistics capabilities, enabling better control over goods receipt, delivery, and inter-site transport. The company subsequently acquired an adjacent 15,500 sq ft facility to the Birmingham plant, increasing warehousing capacity and creating dedicated space for new product introductions.
The company holds several certifications, including the IATF 16949 quality certification for the automotive industry, and believes this platform will help it unlock new opportunities in domestic and international markets, particularly in Europe. Matt stated that the company's technical capabilities, combined with investments in advanced manufacturing technologies and robotics, have secured new projects across four different industries in recent months. These projects include automotive interior parts requiring high-quality 'Class A surface' finishes, front panel components for appliance manufacturers, large mouldings for building and facilities applications, and road and highway infrastructure components, including lighting applications and reflective road studs. These projects are being delivered through a rapid tool transfer process, enabling a fast, low-risk transition to UK production. As more businesses seek to strengthen supply chain resilience, the company is ready to support this shift with complete end-to-end manufacturing solutions.
