en.Wedoany.com Reported - Commercial Metals Company (CMC) is redefining the concept of early-stage construction in the building industry. This over-100-year-old enterprise is the largest manufacturer of rebar in the United States and has become the third-largest supplier of precast concrete and concrete pipe products through acquisitions. CMC focuses on everything before structural erection, including underground work, foundation systems, site preparation, drainage, and pipeline infrastructure, but does not involve vertical structures, mechanical and electrical systems, exterior facades, or interior finishes.

Christina Edgerton, Head of Business Development and Growth for CMC's Early-Stage Construction segment, stated that the company has built a comprehensive solution platform covering multiple product lines, including rebar, geogrids, ground improvement, precast concrete, and anchoring systems. Related brands include Tensar geogrids, Geopier ground improvement systems, ChromX rebar, InQuik precast bridges, and CPMP and Foley precast concrete products. With over 80 operating locations in more than 30 U.S. states, CMC provides nationwide supply chain support.

Edgerton noted that CMC's support for contractors is primarily reflected in three aspects: speed, simplicity, and scale. In terms of speed, precast products can compress project timelines; simplicity means contractors can engage a single partner for multiple aspects at one job site; and scale refers to the combination of a national company's resources with localized service. She emphasized that contractors should engage in the design phase earlier than traditional practices, initiating discussions with geotechnical engineers and foundation designers before design documents are released, thereby identifying time- and cost-saving alternatives before final plans are set.

In terms of technology application, CMC's ChromX rebar has a design life of 100 years, the Geopier ground improvement system can stabilize adverse soil conditions, and InQuik precast short-span bridges can be installed in less than a week. The company participated in the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility project in the United States, located in the swamps of Louisiana, improving construction conditions through ground improvement solutions, ensuring safe and efficient equipment transport, while also supplying rebar and geogrid products. Covering thousands of acres, the project helped the client reduce construction costs and simplify the supply chain.

Edgerton believes that artificial intelligence and IoT technologies are transforming value creation in the construction industry. Through sensing technology, asset tracking, and delivery tracking, construction sites will gain greater real-time visibility, enabling better decision-making.
