en.Wedoany.com Reported - Pilgrim’s Europe (the European branch of Pilgrim’s, the largest chicken producer in the United States, with approximately 40 factories across Europe) has partnered with automation solutions provider Promalyon to implement robotic palletizing at the end of its poultry processing and bacon production lines in Hénin-Beaumont, France. This factory is Pilgrim’s largest facility in France, employing 520 staff, operating six days a week, and supplying products to major retailers and the food service industry.

The palletizing automation project began in 2020, aiming to support production growth, optimize on-site space, and reduce labor intensity in key processes. Promalyon deployed the first Multipal robot cell that year, followed by a second unit two years later. These robots can palletize products from multiple input lines. Currently, the two cells handle products from four high-speed production lines, managing approximately twenty different palletizing schemes. Due to the need to maintain the cold chain, the equipment operates in a positive-temperature cold environment. After pallets are automatically stretch-wrapped and labeled, they are transferred via a buffer conveyor system to a deep-freeze area at minus 25 degrees Celsius.

Erwan Baley, Commercial Director of Promalyon, noted that agri-food companies are seeking scalable solutions that can simultaneously improve industrial performance and working conditions. This project demonstrates the company's ability to accompany clients over the long term and adapt to on-site constraints.
