Stratasys Launches F870 Large Industrial 3D Printer, Toyota and Rivian Have Introduced It for Testing

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 9, Stratasys released the F870 large industrial FDM additive manufacturing system. Toyota Motor North America's production engineering team and Rivian Automotive have respectively introduced the equipment at their facilities in Georgetown, Kentucky, and Plymouth, Michigan, for application evaluation. The testing scope includes production tooling, manufacturing aids, large fixtures, assembly tools, inspection gauges, and prototyping.

The F870 has a build envelope of 1000×610×610 mm, a total build volume of 372,000 cubic centimeters, and a maximum diagonal part length of 1171 mm. The overall machine dimensions are approximately 175×124×196 cm, and the equipment weighs approximately 817 kg. It features a fully heated build chamber design, enabling direct production of large single-piece tooling, fixtures, and industrial components.

The equipment supports industrial materials including Nylon 12CF carbon fiber reinforced nylon, ABS-M30, ASA, and the newly launched FDM ABS Draft. Among these, Nylon 12CF is primarily aimed at production tooling and fixtures requiring higher stiffness and durability. The F870 uses SR-35 soluble support material and is equipped with three N-series print heads.

The equipment features a 1-meter-class heated build chamber and integrates material drying functionality. Stratasys has positioned the F870 for factory production support applications, including large assembly fixtures, inspection tools, production aids, and end-use part manufacturing. Toyota and Rivian are currently conducting equipment evaluations focused on these actual production scenarios, with commercial sales to follow.

Stratasys plans to showcase the F870 at IMTS 2026 in Chicago from September 14 to 19. Concurrent exhibits include ASA material for defense applications, industrial-grade photopolymer materials, and automated tooling design software, with the F870 showcased on-site as its next-generation large-format FDM hardware platform.
