en.Wedoany.com Reported - Shearwater has been awarded a distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) seismic project by ExxonMobil for the Stabroek block offshore Guyana. The European company has taken on a two-month scope of work, including source-only seismic acquisition, to support a baseline DAS reservoir monitoring survey for the Yellowtail development area.

Shearwater CEO Irene Waage Basili stated that the DAS project can provide clients with specific insights into reservoir monitoring throughout the entire lifecycle of an oil field. Shearwater's source technology, offshore execution experience, and flexible capacity enable vessels to switch between different modes to maximize utilization.

The Norwegian company has deployed the SW Empress in a triple-source configuration, directly continuing from a multi-client project in South America. The vessel has been operating there since November 2025.

After ExxonMobil made a final investment decision on its fourth project in the Stabroek block in 2022, the FPSO One Guyana began oil production in August 2025, marking the fourth such facility delivered to Guyana. This startup brought the country's total installed capacity to over 900,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd). The operator expects to increase total capacity to 1.7 million barrels of oil equivalent per day through eight development projects by 2030.

ExxonMobil Guyana operates the Stabroek block with a 45% interest, Hess Guyana Exploration (now part of Chevron) holds 30%, and CNOOC Petroleum holds the remaining 25%.
