en.Wedoany.com Reported - RE:AI, the sovereign AI cloud business under Singtel Digital InfraCo, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with WEKA, an AI data infrastructure provider, to jointly build and deliver sovereign AI infrastructure solutions in Singapore and the ASEAN region. This collaboration aims to lay the foundation for applying AI in critical infrastructure sectors.

The partnership combines Singtel's RE:AI sovereign AI cloud infrastructure, Paragon network orchestration platform, and end-to-end managed services with WEKA's NeuralMesh, a high-performance software-defined storage system, ensuring a continuous supply of data to GPUs to optimize productivity and performance. By eliminating storage bottlenecks and minimizing GPU idle time, NeuralMesh helps organizations maximize infrastructure efficiency, accelerate AI workloads and innovation, while maintaining full control over their data. Singtel will also integrate NeuralMesh into its GPU-as-a-Service offering as a high-performance data foundation, delivered through an Applied AI Center of Excellence in collaboration with AI technology partners, providing governments and enterprises with a platform to rapidly, efficiently, and securely develop, deploy, and scale production-grade AI applications.

Bill Chang, CEO of Singtel Digital InfraCo, stated that as sovereign AI adoption accelerates in the ASEAN region, governments and enterprises require infrastructure that is secure, compliant, and capable of operating at scale. Modern AI is no longer limited solely by computing power; the real bottleneck lies in the speed at which data reaches the GPU, making high-speed data architecture as critical as the GPU itself. Through the partnership with WEKA, Singtel strengthens its sovereign AI platform by integrating trusted cloud infrastructure, advanced data capabilities, and network intelligence, enabling customers to confidently deploy complex AI workloads.

There is a growing demand in the region for AI environments that meet data residency requirements, regulatory alignment, and operational autonomy. Agentic and reasoning-based models are driving this demand, requiring microsecond-level latency, faster and more reliable access to large datasets, and consistent throughput that traditional storage architectures struggle to provide.

Liran Zvibel, Co-founder and CEO of WEKA, noted that sovereign AI in the ASEAN region is not just about where data is stored, but about developing future-ready infrastructure capable of supporting exascale AI innovation across the entire ecosystem. Singtel brings geographic reach, network capabilities, and operational trust to this partnership. Together, WEKA and Singtel provide a secure AI infrastructure foundation, empowering the public and private sectors in ASEAN to build the future.

Singtel and WEKA will offer sovereign AI factories as managed services to governments and enterprises in Singapore and ASEAN, covering a wide range of use cases including national digital services, financial risk management, medical diagnostics, public safety, and smart transportation and utility operations. Customers can choose from three flexible models: Dedicated Sovereign Pods for single-tenant environments supporting highly sensitive workloads, Regulated Multi-Tenant Sovereign Zones providing isolated shared environments for regulated industries, and Hybrid Sovereign Models integrating on-premises systems with sovereign cloud capacity, enabling organizations to meet performance, regulatory, and cost requirements while efficiently scaling AI capabilities.

As a connectivity and cloud infrastructure provider, Singtel can centrally develop and govern AI models within sovereign data centers, then securely extend them to edge locations to support real-time, ultra-low-latency applications such as traffic and video analytics, airport and port operations, and industrial automation. The platform also supports complex AI applications, including agents built for intricate multi-step workflows that require continuous processing of large volumes of data.
