en.Wedoany.com Reported - To create a regulatory pathway for mining enterprises to use highly automated self-propelled machinery, the Russian Federation Government recently approved a three-year experimental legal framework. This decree has been published on the official website of legal acts, aiming to create new opportunities for economic activities and introduce modern digital technologies.

Two deposits have been selected as pilot sites: the Ozernoye deposit in the Republic of Buryatia and the Pesanka deposit in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. The former is developed by Ozernoye LLC (ООО «Озерное»), and the latter is operated by the Baimskaya Mining Company («ГДК Баимская»).

Unmanned machinery will be applied in open-pit mining operations, with the experimental plan involving artificial intelligence, digital design, and robotics.

The testing is divided into three stages: In the first stage, equipment operates in automated mode but still requires an operator in the cabin; the second stage allows operator-free operation, provided the equipment operates autonomously without accidents for at least 48 hours; the third stage achieves fully operator-free operation, with transport control managed by remote dispatchers.
