en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, KSB held a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of its Eta production facility at its headquarters in Frankenthal, Germany. The ceremony was attended by Simone Schneider, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Rhineland-Palatinate, Frankenthal Mayor Nicolas Meyer, Deputy Mayor Bernd Knöppel, and approximately 400 employees. CEO Dr. Stephan Timmermann opened the ceremony, stating that the project, with an investment of over €70 million, is one of the largest single investments globally for the company, aiming to upgrade the existing facility into a European competence center for next-generation electronically controlled pumps.

Timmermann emphasized that this investment reflects the company's confidence in Germany as an industrial base, but he also pointed out that export-oriented companies and their jobs depend on local competitiveness, thus expecting politicians and social partners to improve the economic framework with the same courage and goal orientation. To ensure the long-term competitiveness of the Frankenthal site, KSB plans to fully modernize its Eta production facility by 2030 according to the latest technology and energy standards. Simon Charrier, Head of Standard Production in Frankenthal, and Björn Külzer, Head of Production Engineering, along with their teams, played a key role in the restructuring of the Eta production facility.

The expansion work will proceed while ensuring uninterrupted production operations. "Production must continue," Külzer stated; at the same time, production will be elevated to a new organizational and technical level. Charrier added that this evolution is pragmatic and economically sound. The project will reorganize the machining, assembly, and logistics areas, and completely renovate the old halls to optimize production cycles, achieve faster delivery times, and maintain high quality. In terms of energy efficiency, the drying system of the new paint shop will be connected to the headquarters' district heating network, and photovoltaic systems and green belts will be installed on the roof.

Currently, the Eta plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 54,000 pumps, which will increase after the expansion. KSB aims to raise the annual capacity to 65,000 pumps by 2030, by which time 90% of the new plant's construction will be completed. KSB is already producing the next-generation energy-efficient EtaLine Pro pump series for building services applications at the Eta plant, using sustainable production methods. This transformation aims to adapt more product series to future energy efficiency requirements. "There is a large market for variable-speed pumps in Europe," Charrier noted, "and pumps account for 10% to 15% of Europe's electricity consumption." Timmermann concluded that competitiveness is not a given, and KSB must develop, adapt, and embrace change through continuous investment.
