en.Wedoany.com Reported - Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives has launched a new adhesive, designated SH6020-W PLUS, which combines permanent and washable properties. Designed specifically for the wine and spirits industry, it supports bottle reuse and glass recycling processes.

The company states that this new adhesive is currently the first high-end label solution on the market to achieve both permanent and washable performance on a single adhesive platform. The goal is to help converters, designers, and brand owners meet emerging regulatory requirements, such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes and the EU's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

According to Fedrigoni, SH6020-W PLUS delivers the same high-end adhesion and reliability as the SH6020 PLUS adhesive technology throughout the product lifecycle, while enabling clean removal during industrial washing processes. For customers already using SH6020 PLUS, no new validation is required as the formulation remains unchanged.

The company notes that the new adhesive allows brands to use a single solution across multiple markets, eliminating the need to manage different label structures based on destination country or local regulations. This approach helps reduce complexity, avoid duplicate inventory, and respond to the growing demand for circular packaging without altering established production processes.

In related developments, in February, Henkel Adhesive Technologies entered into a strategic partnership with Swedish chemical company Sekab, focusing on replacing traditional ethyl acetate with sustainable bio-based alternatives for adhesive production. Through this value chain collaboration, Henkel aims to bring scalable sustainable raw materials to market and generate tangible climate benefits. Additionally, Henkel recently launched its first cold seal solution designed specifically for barrier-coated paper packaging. Dr. Roberto Pela, Business Development Manager for Packaging Adhesives Europe at Henkel Adhesive Technologies, provided insights into the solution's features, development process, and its relevance to the PPWR.
