en.Wedoany.com Reported - The automotive industry is undergoing a technological transformation, and Renault aims to enhance the interactive experience of its OpenR Link infotainment system by integrating the next-generation artificial intelligence assistant, Gemini. The French automaker is gradually replacing Google Assistant, which previously served as the core of its in-vehicle ecosystem, with Gemini to deliver more natural and context-aware voice interaction capabilities.

Renault positions Gemini as a digital co-pilot capable of assisting with navigation, answering complex questions, and controlling certain vehicle functions via voice. While Google Assistant primarily executed structured commands, Gemini introduces a more conversational interaction logic that can understand and process continuous, complex requests. For example, in a seamless conversation, a user can ask the vehicle to find charging stations along a route, adjust the air conditioning based on the weather forecast at the destination, and recommend nearby cafes.

Renault states that Gemini is available across its entire European model lineup, from the Twingo to the Rafale. Users can access this feature through a free over-the-air (OTA) update and can choose whether to enable this Google-powered AI. The system will continuously expand its capabilities through subsequent OTA updates, supporting more languages and enhancing the AI assistant's abilities without requiring the vehicle to be taken to a dealership.

Renault is not the only player in the in-vehicle AI space. Tesla has integrated Grok AI, developed by xAI, into its vehicles, with an assistant style that aligns with Elon Musk's brand DNA. Meanwhile, brands under the Stellantis group, including Peugeot, Citroën, and Alfa Romeo, have integrated ChatGPT into some models as a driving aid alongside navigation and media entertainment.
