en.Wedoany.com Reported - Over the past two years, Tulloch Homes and the Highland Housing Alliance (HHA) have delivered more than 200 Mid-Market Rent (MMR) homes across the Highlands through collaboration, with these projects located in major developments in Aviemore, Inverness, Conon Bridge, and Kirkhill.

The latest delivery milestone is the handover of 41 two-bedroom MMR apartments at the Bynack More development in Aviemore, with 8 of these apartments prioritised for blue light workers. Additionally, a further 19 MMR homes will be delivered at Tulloch Homes' Riverford development in Conon Bridge. The HHA will manage and own 15 of these homes, with the remaining 4 being sold by the Highland Council through the Scottish Government's LIFT (Low-cost Initiative for First Time Buyers) scheme.

This development comes at a time of high demand for rental housing, with over 1,000 applicants for 10 HHA homes at Parks View in Inverness in 2026. The Highlands face a significant housing shortage, with an estimated need for 24,000 new homes over the next decade. The progress of the partnership between HHA and Tulloch Homes has been supported by investment from the Highland Council, the Scottish Government, and the Inverness and Highland City-Region Deal.

Gail Matheson, Chief Executive of the Highland Housing Alliance, said the handover of these new homes at Bynack More, along with a commitment to further development, marks a significant step in increasing the supply of quality, affordable housing in Highland rural communities. She added that in its 20-year history, demand for rental housing has never been so high, and developments like this are crucial in helping to address the imbalance between supply and demand, while collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential for tackling Scotland's housing challenges and sustaining housing delivery for thriving rural communities.

Kieran Graham, Managing Director of Tulloch Homes, said housing is fundamental to economic growth, and by increasing supply and expanding tenure options, they are supporting the Highlands' long-term goals, including opportunities brought by the Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport. Over more than two decades, the HHA and Highland Council have worked together to deliver over 600 Mid-Market Rent homes across the region.

Councillor Glynis Campbell Sinclair, Chair of the Highland Council's Housing and Property Committee, said increasing the supply of affordable housing remains a key priority for the Highland Council, with clear plans in place to deliver more homes across the Highlands. She added that delivering new Mid-Market Rent homes in Aviemore, while continuing investment in communities such as Conon Bridge, will help alleviate housing pressure, support sustainable development, and ensure more people can live and work locally.
