Querétaro, Mexico Strengthens Electronics Industry with Focus on Semiconductor Development

During the opening ceremony of Global Electronics Connect Day Querétaro, Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, Secretary of Sustainable Development, stated that the goal is for an increasing number of technologies designed in the state to enter the international market.

Global Electronics Connect Day brings together government, industry, and academia to strengthen Querétaro's technology ecosystem.

Del Prete noted that Querétaro has already become a national benchmark in advanced manufacturing, automation, aerospace, automotive, information technology, and electronics, but the state aims to play a leading role in the semiconductor and electronics industry. The state government is promoting a public policy to strengthen the local technology ecosystem by enhancing ties between businesses and universities, training specialized talent, promoting applied research, encouraging technology entrepreneurship, and creating a favorable environment for innovation and growth for enterprises.

Lorena Villanueva, Director General of Global Electronics Association México, stated that thanks to coordination among the public, private, and academic sectors, Querétaro has been ranked by IMCO as the most competitive city in the country. She emphasized that the growth of the electronics industry depends on sustained collaboration between government, businesses, and educational institutions. Rafael Chávez, head of the High Technology Unit of the Faculty of Engineering at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Unidad de Alta Tecnología de la Facultad de Ingeniería, UNAM), believes that Querétaro, with its strong academic institutions, highly specialized businesses, and forward-looking government, possesses the elements to become a convergence point driving the national electronics industry. Agustín Casillas, Director General of ICATEQ, explained that the triple helix strategy makes it possible to cultivate high-level technical talent that meets the current demands of the industrial sector.

Global Electronics Connect Day Querétaro is organized by the city of Querétaro, ICATEQ, INDEX, CANACINTRA, the High Technology Unit of UNAM, Global Electronics Association México, and companies Mabe, GE Aerospace, and Zacua. The event aims to strengthen the development of the electronics industry and position the state as a national benchmark in this industrial field.
