en.Wedoany.com Reported - KNL (Telenor Group's defence communications specialist) has been named an approved supplier on the UK Tactical Communication Systems Framework (RM6393), securing positions in both Lot 2 (Systems) and Lot 3 (Components). The framework agreements span eight years, with respective values of up to £4.7 billion and £727 million. This dual appointment underscores KNL's capability in delivering fully integrated High Frequency (HF) communication systems and specialised components for critical mission defence operations. KNL joins a select group of military-grade tactical communications and information systems suppliers within the framework.

The framework enables KNL to bid for contracts with the UK Armed Forces. Specific contracts will be awarded through competitive mini-competitions over the framework's duration, with expected scale ranging from initial testing phases to high-volume orders. Inclusion in the framework does not guarantee revenue. The framework has an initial term of 36 months, running until 25 June 2029, with the total term potentially extending to eight years.
For the Telenor Group, this appointment signals growing international momentum in secure, resilient communications and supports the company's strategic direction towards security-centric connectivity and critical mission services amid shifting geopolitical dynamics across Europe and beyond. Dan Ouchterlony, Head of Telenor Amp, stated that with deepening geopolitical uncertainty, the importance of robust, resilient communication solutions has never been higher, and KNL's selection for this framework is a clear endorsement of its established capabilities, enabling it to support a key NATO ally while driving international growth in a strategically important business area.
Selection for the UK framework provides KNL with structured visibility into future procurement cycles and established market access in one of the world's most advanced and competitive defence sectors. Toni Lindén, CEO of KNL, said the UK is a premier defence and security market, and this appointment is a significant recognition of KNL's capabilities. With a proven track record, the technology, and now a recognised position to compete for real opportunities, the company is ready to deliver.
This UK appointment follows several major framework agreements secured by KNL. The company holds long-term framework contracts with the Finnish Defence Forces and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for CNHF communication systems. These agreements cover 2025-2035 and represent the first round of tactical communications and command-and-control system procurements under the NORDEFCO framework. Together, these contracts highlight KNL's growing role in strengthening European defence communications capabilities and reflect increasing confidence in the company's technology from defence and security organisations. This momentum is reflected in KNL's recent financial performance, driven by sustained government prioritisation of defence readiness and growing demand for resilient communication solutions. Lindén noted that this is the result of years of sustained investment in technology and talent, and the UK framework gives the company a foothold in a highly demanding market, with the intention of earning the trust of UK customers by delivering communication systems that perform when it matters most, just as it has done in Scandinavia and the wider Nordic region.
