en.Wedoany.com Reported - PPG completed its "Colorful Communities" project at De Fabriek, the site of the Habbekrats children's rights charity in Ghent, Belgium. Twenty-five volunteers and partners used over 400 liters of 15 colors of PPG's SIGMA COATINGS paint to transform the center into a vibrant space for children and adolescents from vulnerable family environments.

De Fabriek, once a tannery that exploited child labor, has now been repurposed as a haven for children and adolescents. The center supports over 2,500 children and adolescents annually, providing play areas, creative studios, and dedicated meeting spaces to help them discover their talents. Durable Sigma Pearl Clean Semi Matt and Tigron Aqua Satin paints were applied to walls and floors using PROGOLD® equipment. Volunteers selected soft, soothing tones, including Tarreyton and PPG's 2026 Color of the Year, "Secret Safari," for the youth relaxation area; brighter colors energized the activity zones, including a mural designed by Lieven Seys, PPG's Senior Marketing Manager for Benelux and B2B Head of the Architectural Coatings division.

Chris Van Lysebetten, General Coordinator of Habbekrats, stated that this renovation provides the warm environment young people deserve. Later this year, Habbekrats will host a large party to celebrate its 35th anniversary. The project also involved multiple partners: social enterprise Weerwerk handled the main painting work, and art group PNCHR refreshed a wall showcasing children's rights in 40 languages.

Patrick van onderbergen, Specifications Manager for PPG's Architectural Coatings division in Belgium, noted that this effort goes far beyond painting; it aims to make children feel beauty and safety once again. He stated that seeing a place with a raw industrial history transformed into a source of color embodies PPG's commitment to people and sustainability.

The "Colorful Communities" project is PPG's signature initiative to support communities, aiming to protect and beautify neighborhoods where PPG operates globally. Since 2015, PPG has completed over 635 "Colorful Communities" projects, impacting more than 10.3 million people in over 50 countries.
