en.Wedoany.com Reported - Krakatoa Resources (ASX:KTA) has commenced Q2 underground drilling at the Zopkhito antimony-gold project in the Racha region of Georgia, targeting known antimony and gold mineralized veins within the historical underground mining area.

The company's 2026 work program is primarily focused on resource definition drilling, metallurgical optimization, and preliminary mining studies, aiming to convert existing foreign resource estimates into JORC-compliant resource estimates. Zopkhito's existing foreign resource estimate stands at 225,000 tonnes at 11.6% antimony, containing 26,000 tonnes of antimony; and 7.1 million tonnes at 3.7 g/t gold, containing 815,119 ounces of gold. Underground channel sampling and bulk sampling are expected to commence in the coming weeks.

CEO Mark Major stated that with access and site preparation work completed, the 2026 field season has begun, marking an exciting time for the company. The work program is designed to support the delivery of the first JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate and advance early-stage mine development studies. The 2025 drilling program validated the high-grade nature of antimony and gold mineralization and the extension potential at Zopkhito, and the 2026 program will build on these high-grade results. With antimony becoming a strategic critical mineral, Zopkhito has the potential to become a rare and significant source of antimony in Europe.

Zopkhito has undergone extensive historical exploration, including approximately 27 kilometers of underground exploration drifts, over 15,000 historical trench and geochemical samples, and previous LiDAR and induced polarization geophysical surveys. Krakatoa's 2025 field season at Zopkhito confirmed high-grade mineralization within historical drifts, as well as the presence of an extended gold alteration system, and identified high-grade quartz-antimony vein development through drill testing. Last year's drilling activities intersected mineralization in multiple target areas, providing strong geological validation for the historical model. Krakatoa Resources is advancing the Zopkhito project in Georgia while also exploring other critical and precious metals in Australia.
