en.Wedoany.com Reported - Swiss marine engine design company WinGD has secured an order to supply main engines for 12 very large crude carriers (VLCCs) being built for Greek tanker owner Dynacom at China's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.

Each vessel will be equipped with one WinGD 6X82-2.0 low-speed engine, along with exhaust gas scrubbers and a high-pressure selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system to meet current International Maritime Organization (IMO) emission requirements.

The order comes against the backdrop of tanker owners continuing to invest in modern, energy-efficient vessels to renew the global VLCC fleet and enhance long-term operational performance.

WinGD noted that the 6X82-2.0 engine has a proven track record in the tanker market, offering fuel efficiency, reliability, and operational performance while supporting compliance with increasingly stringent environmental regulations.

The contract further expands WinGD's growing portfolio of tanker propulsion systems and includes access to the company's lifecycle support services, covering remote monitoring, diagnostics, and a global service network.

Carmelo Cartalemi, Global Sales General Manager at WinGD, stated that fleet renewal involves not only meeting operational requirements but also selecting a trusted partner. With decades of engine development experience and continuously expanding digital and service capabilities, WinGD works closely with customers to help them achieve current operational goals and prepare for future challenges. He also mentioned that WinGD's extensive propulsion system portfolio enables shipowners to choose the solution that best aligns with their current business strategy. As the industry continues to evolve, the company is developing retrofit and upgrade pathways across its entire portfolio to support customers in addressing changing demands throughout a vessel's operational life.
