en.Wedoany.com Reported - The UK's Celtic Sea floating wind project, Gwynt Glas, has officially initiated the environmental impact assessment process. The project developer has submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping Report to the UK Planning Inspectorate (PINS), Natural Resources Wales, and the Marine Management Organisation, seeking stakeholder feedback on the topics and methodologies to be included in the EIA. The findings will support subsequent applications for development consent for the floating offshore wind project.

The Gwynt Glas project has a planned installed capacity of 1.5 GW and is classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, requiring a Development Consent Order (DCO) and a marine license for construction. The project is a joint venture between EDF Power Solutions and ESB, with DP Energy serving as the exclusive development partner. The developer stated that public consultation activities are expected to take place in autumn 2026.

In November 2025, Gwynt Glas selected Haskoning to lead the EIA process, with NASH Maritime responsible for shipping and navigation assessments. The project secured a 1.5 GW seabed lease in The Crown Estate's Round 5 floating offshore wind leasing and signed an Agreement for Lease in October 2025.
