en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Nordex Group has received an order to install three N175/6.X wind turbines at the Twistenberg wind farm in northern Hesse, Germany. With a capacity of 20 megawatts, the wind farm is expected to generate approximately 55 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually, meeting about two-thirds of the power demand of Continental's tire plant in Korbach together with an existing photovoltaic system. The contract also includes a comprehensive service agreement for a period of 20 years.

The special feature of this project is that the generated electricity will be supplied directly to a large industrial user. The wind farm will be operated and owned by tire manufacturer Continental, and the future wind power is expected to meet part of the electricity demand of the Korbach plant, located about 8 kilometers away. This marks a further expansion of Continental's direct supply of renewable electricity, while local generation helps improve the planning certainty of the plant's energy supply.

The Twistenberg project was developed by Verbands-Energie-Werk Gesellschaft für Erneuerbare Energien (VEW), a subsidiary of the regional energy supplier Energie Waldeck-Frankenberg GmbH (EWF), which has a municipal background in Hesse. The project is seen as a model for cooperation between industry, municipal energy companies, and regional project developers.

The wind farm is located in the low mountain range of Hesse in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district, with an average wind speed of 6.9 meters per second, making it suitable for the N175/6.X turbine, which is specifically developed for low to medium wind speeds. Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President of Region Central at Nordex Group, stated that with a hub height of 179 meters, this turbine model demonstrates advantages in high output and efficient operation, and when combined with direct industrial power supply, forms a convincing overall concept in both economic and climate policy terms.

Civil engineering work is planned to begin in 2026, with commissioning expected approximately one and a half years later. Since 1985, the Nordex Group has installed over 64 gigawatts of wind power capacity in more than 40 markets, with consolidated sales of approximately 7.6 billion euros in 2025 and over 11,100 employees. Its manufacturing network is located in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, and the United States.
