en.Wedoany.com Reported - Boluda Shipping has completed equipment upgrades at its Tenerife terminal in Spain, adding two ultra-Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and four hybrid rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes to enhance operational capacity.

The investment is part of the modernization plan for Boluda Maritime Terminals Tenerife, totaling over €40 million. The new equipment enables the terminal to handle ultra-large container ships while improving storage capacity, operational efficiency, and cargo handling performance.
The two STS cranes were unveiled at the Bufadero terminal in the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with an outreach spanning 22 container rows, a lift height of 60 meters, and a twin-lift spreader capacity of 71 tons. These cranes also feature energy regeneration technology to reduce the environmental impact of terminal operations.
The four next-generation hybrid RTG cranes improve container stacking capacity, accelerate loading and unloading operations, and enhance cargo flow through the terminal.
Boluda Shipping stated that this infrastructure upgrade solidifies Tenerife's position as a strategic transshipment hub, particularly as major shipping lines adjust their routes to Europe via the Cape of Good Hope.
